Did you know that many historical U.S. military records, photos, and stories of those who served are available online? Students who created the art will be in person to discuss and answer questions about their art. If you can't make it to gala night, the artwork will be displayed until May 23. Live It In Color Come be a part of our fun community art project and help us add some color to a life-size canvas! This special design was created by amazing individuals with disabilities from the Jefferson County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Color Our World 5K Color Run June 7 at 10 a.m. at the Steubenville Marina Come help the Friends of the Library kick off the Summer Reading Program with a celebration unlike anything you’ve ever seen on this side of the rainbow. The Color Run is designed to unite participants who want to promote the Summer Reading Program and an active, healthy lifestyle. Participants are encouraged to wear white at the starting line but will cross the finish doused head-to-toe in vibrant colors. Everyone, regardless of fitness level, can walk or run the 5K along the Ohio River at the marina. Then, celebrate with a post-race party featuring a summer reading raffle and costume contests. Library News 5 WHAT'S HAPPENING at the library Holiday Closing All PLSJ branches will be closed Monday, May 26 in observance of Memorial Day. Color Your World with Cooking! Directions Heat water in a medium bowl in the microwave until nearly boiling (about 3 minutes). Stir in the sugar until completely dissolved and the mixture has thickened into a simple syrup. Set out six glasses and fill each with 1/2 cup water. Then, mix in the following ingredients with a few drops of different colors of food coloring as shown in the chart. To serve, fill two empty glasses each halfway with ice. In the first glass, combine the liquids from the top chart. Start by pouring in the yellow liquid. After that, pour in the green liquid. Finally, pour in the blue liquid. In the second glass, combine the liquids from the bottom chart. First pour in the purple liquid, followed by the red liquid, and finally add the blue liquid.
