The Internet is a great resource for genealogy. There are many free sites online today. Familysearch.org is one great site that is maintained by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) in Salt Lake City Utah. Another great free site is findagrave.com. There are over 100 million graves listed on this website.
The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County has subscriptions to 2 fee based websites. Heritage Quest is a site that you can use remotely at home if you have a valid PLSJ library card. Another fee based website that you can use free at any of our branches is Ancestry Library Edition. This can only be accessed at our branch locations and cannot be used on your home computer. This is the Library version of Ancestry.com and has almost all of the records that can be found on Ancestry.com. If you have a valid library card you can access this site and print anything you might find, for a small fee.
Another free website that is owned by PLSJ is Digitalshoebox.org. This site has hundreds of photo images and print images from various books owned by 10 Southeast Ohio Libraries
