Leadership Book Club
August 21 @ 11:30 am
Trinity Health System, the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, and the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County are partnering to offer a book club on leadership beginning in August.
“The book club will be a networking opportunity to share and learn about different leading styles and experiences,” said Jennifer Cesta, library public relations coordinator. Jennifer said the book club is free and open to anyone who wants to join. Cesta explained that Kathie Pasquarella had a leadership book club for staff already in place for staff at Trinity. “I thought this was a great idea and asked Kathie if we could expand it to include the public. And of course, having the chamber of commerce as a partner is a natural fit,” said Cesta.
The book club’s first discussion will be on August 21 at 11:30 a.m. at the Main Library to discuss “Leading Continuous Change: Navigating Churn in the Real World by William Pasmore. “Most change efforts fail because most change methods are built to deal with single challenges in a nice, neat, linear way. But leaders know that today, pressures for change don’t come at you one at a time; they come all at once. It’s like riding a roller coaster: sudden drops, jarring turns, anxious climbs into the unknown. Drawing on his years of experience at the Center for Creative Leadership and Columbia University, Bill Pasmore offers a four-part model and four mindsets that allow leaders to deal with multiple changes simultaneously without drowning in the churn.”
To join the club all you have to do is register by calling the library at 740.282.9782. The books selected for the book club are available as an e-book or a physical book at the library. A library card is needed to checkout the book from the library or participants can choose to purchase a copy for their personal library too.
The book club will meet on October 16 at 11:30 a.m. at the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce and on December 18 at 11:30 a.m. at Trinity West.
